We all have experiences that occurred early in our lives that still affect us in unproductive ways. Most of us have “dealt” with these memories by suppressing them, forgetting them and believe that they don’t really affect us much as an adult. The truth is we all know that they DO affect us at critical decision-making times. They subtly affect our lives by making us less confident in certain situations or cause us to over-react in other environments. Most of us believe there is no way to affect, modify or remove these experiences from the past. We believe they are just part of us now and we just have to live a life inhabited by these unwelcomed memories. In effect we’ve accepted the idea “that we can’t change the past”. The WHY.

We all start as pure souls full of passion. Life can hand us some hard challenges early in life. For those of us that had the toughest event in our youth, many fortunate individuals have come to find that power that lay within the integration of those early lessons. For others, guided therapy can help turn the pain into unbreakable passion and power for living an exceptional life.  Re-igniting that fire for living is one of the most powerful healing and health strategies possible.

First we Heal

TRAUMA

Almost everybody on this planet has some past trauma that is limiting their ability to life to their full potential. I remember thinking, I have no “real” that could be affecting me, but after very light digging I happened upon some events that had been living just under the surface, preventing me from getting the restful sleep I needed. Trauma is not a competition. It's not the relative level of trauma that causes the limiting beliefs, it's how our young brain interprets the events and decides how to react to protect the young self. The meaning your mind creates and your defense reaction to somebody knocking an ice cream out of your hand at 4 years old is different than when your 24 years old. Early emotional or physical trauma creates limiting beliefs that color your world for a lifetime. Your brain is very good at creating defense patterns that are automatically engaged when a similar stimulus is triggered. This is all functioning at a subconscious level, just like laughing or catching a ball thrown at your face. If you find yourself “Over-reacting” you can bet there is some automatic defense reaction related to some previous traumatic event most likely formed when you were just creating your world view and assigning meaning to events you were experiencing as a child. It's really incredibly amazing how quickly these no-longer useful childish defense and reaction patterns can be removed and a better, more use-able adult beliefs patterns and reactions can replace them.

PTSD

As an adult PTSD is more common result of an event that is over-whelming emotionally. We are unable to completely process the event quickly and thus put it in deep storage, or least that is what we want to do with it. Instead, since it was such a painful experience we just want it to go away , and we are willing to use time to ever so slowing fade it to the past. This works, but very very slowly, in the mean time we have to constantly “turn away” from the memory at it haunts us from a corner of the room. We get used to just keeping our head down and eyes ahead resulting in an emotionally unavailable being and a dull grey life without passion. Hypnotherapy is a very fast and effective method for rapidly reducing and even eliminating the emotional impact of the over-whelming event.

ADDICTION

Most people have some form of addiction. In fact if you have a strongly addictive personality you are in the company of most of the greatest athletes, innovators, adventures, fortune-500 leaders, and most high-achieving people in the world. An addictive personality is really a super-power, but like anything with great potential power, the power must be controlled and focused or it will destroy the owner! There are a few different categories of Addiction.
There is a physical addiction, or using some substance or activity that causes a pleasure state – dopamine. And it feels good. If this is running like Dean Karnases – then you can run 300 miles non-stop. This ability lands him in front of paying crowds that want to hear his stories as a key-note speaker. If it is Heroin, then the user is only going to get paid to be a key-note speaker if they tell the story of how they used to be a heroin addict but turned that into be a passion for building homes for the homeless, or some other story of redemption.
There is Addiction in the form of substance abuse to checkout or just exit reality. Much like PTSD, the user is simply over-whelmed and cannot see the exit from their dilemma. Or the effort they believe that would be required to resolve their pain is great than simply getting black-out drunk. Their behavior is not there fault – but it is their responsibility to heal the pain as their behavior almost always affects those people and children around them. In this case the person must be ready to heal the past pain before they can truly change. It's not their fault what so ever.  I am very sympathetic to their situation and would love to help them when they are ready to leave that life behind.

PHOBIAS

Phobias are super fun to remove. Just give me call and lets move past these crazy over-reactions.

ANXIETY AND STRESS

Anxiety is based in your animal reaction to your modern lifestyle. Take any animal and put it into a box, they will get anxious. Their body just reacts, just like standing near the edge of a cliff. Even if there's a guard rail moving close to a high drop takes most people's breath away. So how do we fix it? We will dig in a figure out what is causing the reaction, and then determine if it's an “over-reaction” possibility based on past trauma, or you may be putting your body into a situation that it physically cannot handle without developing chronic stress. If this is the case we can work from a life skills perspective.
